Always a solid spot to bring family or a visiting friend for a nice relaxing meal. The quick and friendly service has always been a highlight for us
Our party of 7, which included two children, had brunch at Metro 29 on a Sunday around noon. It was quite busy when we arrived, but they seated us almost immediately. Once seated, we were given glasses of water and asked if we wanted any drinks while we looked over the extensive menu. Not too long after, the waitress took our order, but didn't write anything down, which we thought was odd. After a very short time, our order was brought out to us and was completely correct, which was quite impressive! The food tasted great, especially the French toast, which was amazing! Overall, we would highly recommend this restaurant.
Greek food with all the classic diner plates. Local favorite with large portions. Love their spinach pie with salad while friends love their tuna sandwiches, fries and waffles.
They have made quite a few improvements since the last time I was here. You can park with ease. The service was good and the food was good as well. The restaurant is busy and they have a lot of items to go at the counter. The diner gives you that old fashioned experience that unfortunately has long gone.
Breakfast options are pretty standard and what you expect from a dinner. There was plenty of parking. Our server was attentive and split the bill for our party's convenience. I got a coffee which was decent but a little on the pricier side that I would expect from a diner and an egg sandwich. Cheese was extra. Bagel was also extra my bad for misreading: Sandwiches on Bagel, Pita or English Muffin 1.50¢ extra That sandwiches come on something else, and bagels are part of the extra list. Oh well! It was a fine sandwich. For a diner, it hit what I needed - quick and reasonably priced. There wasn't anything outstanding about it, but it had some decent breakfast fares.
This is definitely a long time favorite. I grew up near the area so we used to go there often growing up. It's a nostalgic place. They still have the big chocolate chip cookies we'd get as kids and they still look and taste the same as I remember. We usually get the french toast for breakfast since it's one of the best items on the menu. It's still the best french toast I've ever had from any place. They make the bread in-house so they cut them as huge slices. It melts in your mouth. So good. We also got the cheese danish which was gigantic but very tasty. It was sweet but not too sweet. It's usually really packed and busy on weekends but we went during a time when it's not so busy so we were seated quickly at a booth near the windows which was nice to see outdoors. The server came often to refill our coffees which we appreciated. You pay the check up at the front when you're done. Also at the front there's a fridge/case with cakes and desserts. The diner is pretty big with tables in the middle and booths on the ends. There's parking in the back and a bit on the side street.
The diner looks like a classic American diner outside and in. Art deco decor rules the interior. The staff is very attentive, constantly refilling coffee cups, water glasses, and checking on us. The portions are huge. The prices are a bit high, but again, the portions are huge. My daughter asked for strawberries on her waffle. We expected a strawberry compote, but were pleasantly surprised with a massive amount of fresh berries and a huge pile of whipped cream.
